In plain English
YouGetTheDog helps you organise who gets what if something happens to you. Your private notes are encrypted in your browser before they reach us — we cannot read them. This page explains the rest.
What we collect
- Your email and name (to sign you in and contact you).
- Account data you enter: assets, beneficiaries, trustees, wishes, allocations, check-in settings.
- Encrypted vault contents (ciphertext only — we cannot decrypt these).
- Security logs: IP address, browser, and a short audit trail of vault and trustee events.
- Cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in. Optional analytics only if you opt in.
How we use it
- To run the service: storing your plan, sending check-in reminders, processing trustee requests.
- To keep things secure: detecting unusual access, keeping an audit trail.
- To contact you about your account. Marketing emails only if you opt in.
Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA)
- Access & portability. Export all your data as JSON from Settings.
- Erasure. Permanently delete your account and data from Settings.
- Correction. Edit anything in your account at any time.
- Withdraw consent. Turn off analytics or marketing at any time in Settings.
- Do Not Sell / Share. We do not sell or share personal data with advertisers.
Retention
We keep your data as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we remove your rows and stored files. Audit logs may be retained briefly for security and regulatory reasons.
